SUPER SATURDAY: Seven-Figure Sales and $5.2 Million Raised for Charity on Day 8 in Scottsdale

Tens of thousands of enthusiastic bidders and fans brought big energy from the moment the gates opened on Super Saturday, presented by Gila River Resorts & Casinos, at Barrett-Jackson’s 2025 Scottsdale Auction on Saturday, Jan. 25. Day 8 delivered an electrifying experience filled with supercharged excitement through the sale of two extraordinary charity vehicles that raised a combined $5.2 million for worthy causes, as well as hundreds of unparalleled collector cars and authentic automobilia.

Among the memorable moments that had the crowd in the arena erupting in applause was the  charity sale of the first retail production 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, VIN 001 (Lot #3005). This landmark vehicle sold for an impressive $3.7 million, with 100% of the hammer price benefiting the American Red Cross. Corvette Chief Engineer Josh Holder joined Barrett-Jackson Chairman and CEO Craig Jackson and President Steve Davis onstage for this momentous occasion, sharing that the funds will provide critical aid to those affected by the California wildfires and hurricanes in the southeastern United States. The winning bidder, NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick, was honored for his legacy of philanthropy, having contributed over $28 million for various causes through 39 charity vehicles auctioned on the Barrett-Jackson block over the last 20 years.

Earlier in the day, the spotlight shone on a 1962 Dodge Power Wagon custom truck, dubbed “Project S.W.E.A.T.” (Lot #3004). Joining Jackson and Davis at the auction podium was Mike Rowe, executive producer and show host best known as the “dirtiest man on TV” from the hit series “Dirty Jobs,” who was visibly moved when the gavel came down on the winning bid of $1.5 million, all of which goes to the mikeroweWORKS Foundation to help train the next generation of skilled workers. The special truck was designed by TV personality Colby Donaldson ‒ known for his appearances on “Survivor” ‒ and built by Ohio-based builder SugarCreek.

As always, Super Saturday proved to be the crescendo of a week full of adrenaline-pumping moments and an unparalleled docket of supercars, Resto-Mods and everything in between, with million-dollar moments and six-figure sales that kept the arena cheering all day.

Nathan Malinick, head of design at Hennessy Performance, was on the block for the sale of the 2023 Hennessey Venom F5 roadster (Lot #1403) that sold for $2.2 million, securing its place as the day’s top seller. Additional showstoppers that joined the million-dollar-plus club included:

• LOT #1398 – DJ MARSHMELLO’S 2020 FORD GT LIQUID CARBON SPECIAL EDITION – $1,760,000
• LOT #1381 – 1987 PORSCHE 959 KOMFORT – $1,457,500
• LOT #1406 – 1956 MERCEDES-BENZ 300SL GULLWING COUPE – $1,402,500
• LOT #1369.1 – 2019 FORD GT – $1,210,000
• LOT #1384.1 – 2022 FORD GT – $1,100,000

One of the most heartwarming moments of the day was welcoming 13-year-old Cameron, a brave young car enthusiast currently battling cancer. Together with Make-A-Wish Arizona, Barrett-Jackson granted Cameron a VIP experience on Super Saturday, which included the honor of banging the gavel on an auction car and taking an unforgettable ride on the block in a 1970 Plymouth HEMI Superbird ‒ one of his all-time favorite cars.

Super Saturday also attracted many superstars, including four-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion Jeff Gordon, as well as customizer and TV personality Jesse James, who was on hand for the sale of his custom 1951 Mercury (Lot #1321.1). Automotive designer Peter Brock, best known for his work on the Shelby Daytona Coupe and the Corvette Stingray, was on the block for the sale of his studio design concept 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Custom Split-Window Coupe (Lot #1363). Original Venice Crew member Jim Marietta and Aaron Shelby, grandson of Carroll Shelby were onstage to watch the gavel fall on a 1965 Ford Mustang GT 350 FIA GT350 Competition Continuation Model (Lot #1395). The late Ken Block’s wife Lucy and son Mika were also in attendance for the $990,000 sale of the famed Hoonitruck, a custom 1977 Ford F-150 (Lot #1365).

Mechanic and restoration specialist Constance Nuniz stopped by the auction for the sale of a 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 (Lot #1390) that she collaborated on with Bodie Stroud. Shirly Muldowney, known professionally as “Cha Cha” and the “First Lady of Drag Racing,” signed autographs for fans earlier in the day and rode shotgun in a custom 1969 Chevrolet Nova known as the “Cha Cha Nova” (Lot #1413) built as a tribute to her drag racing career, as it crossed the block for $803,000. Camilo Pardo, chief designer of the 2005-06 Ford GT, was on hand to sign each first-gen Ford GT that crossed the block. Arizona State University head football coach Kenny Dillingham also made an appearance, fresh off leading his team to the Peach Bowl, while newly elected Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky stopped by to say a few words to onlookers in the arena.

Another highlight of Saturday’s festivities was the announcement of the Barrett-Jackson Cup winner. The competition featured 50 hand-selected custom vehicles, showcasing the pinnacle of craftsmanship and design. Esteemed hot rod builders and judges Bobby Alloway and Troy Trepanier had the challenging task of narrowing the field to the Top 5 finalists and selecting the overall winner.

Claiming the coveted Ultimate Best in Show Award ‒ along with a $20,000 cash purse ‒ was an extraordinary 1968 Dodge Charger built by Classic Car Studio. Owned by Ed Ganzinotti, this Charger is powered by a 440ci engine with a Borla 8-stack fuel injection system, paired with a 4L80 transmission. The People’s Choice Award went to a custom 1985 Chevrolet C10 pickup built by Goolsby Customs and owned by Bruce Griffin. Thousands of Barrett-Jackson fans cast their votes online, celebrating this stunning truck as a fan favorite.

The morning’s Automobilia Auction set the stage for an exhilarating day, energizing the audience with a vibrant display of desirable collectibles. From glowing neon signs and a rocket ship kiddie ride to beautifully restored gas pumps and hard-to-find memorabilia, the selection captivated enthusiastic bidders. Among the day’s standout sellers were:

As the final hammer of Super Saturday echoed through the arena, the day closed with dozens of sales records shattered and over 300 exceptional vehicles heading to new homes.
