Sammy Hagar made a surprise appearance during the Red Voodoo concert!
Day 7 proved to be a spectacular star-studded day with many special guests around the auction site at WestWorld. One of the most exciting moments was when the “Red Rocker,” Sammy Hagar, made a surprise appearance onstage during the Red Voodoo performance in the South Showcase presented by Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum. Michael Anthony, the bassist for Van Halen joined the set and everyone rocked along to hits including “I Can’t Drive 55.”
Several sports, entertainment and automotive celebrities were on hand to check out the excitement at the auction today. Larry Fitzgerald, the legendary Arizona Cardinals wide receiver, was in attendance, as was Race car driver Kurt Busch and automobile designer Chip Foose.
Shelby American President Gary Patterson and Carroll Shelby’s grandson Aaron Shelby made an appearance on the auction block with Barrett-Jackson Chairman and CEO Craig Jackson and President Steve Davis for the charity sale of a 1968 Shelby GT350 re-creation built for and donated to the Carroll Shelby Automotive Program at Northeast Texas Community College. As is tradition, all auction fees were waived for the important sale, which raised $100,000 to provide scholarships for students interested in the program.
Enthusiastic bidders and automotive fans filled the auction arena as just over 400 sought-after high-performance supercars, powerful trucks and sleek sports and muscle cars crossed the block. Six-figure sales kept the action in the fast lane, and the roar of the audience grew with each bang of the gavel.
Friday’s top sales included Lot #1094, a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 for $440,000; Lot #1067, a 1967 Chevrolet C10 custom pickup that sold for $330,000; Lot #1106.1, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle custom coupe that’s going to a new home for $280,500; Lot #1079, a 1968 Dodge Charger custom coupe for $275,000; and Lot #1045, a 1965 Superformance MKIII roadster known as “The Italian Job” and the world’s fastest Cobra, which sold for $242,000.
The day began with the Automobilia Auction, where a pair of 1950s Gulf-Racing-Themed Bowser Siamese-Rolway gas pumps (Lot #9387.7) captured the top-seller spot, crossing the block for $57,500. Kiddie rides, always popular among collectors, stayed in the spotlight today with Lot #9383.2, a 1999 Dale Earnhardt Race Car #3 kiddie ride, selling for $57,270. Other highlights included Lot #9382.1, a 1920S Supertest Gasoline Clear Vision Model #700 twin visible gas pump, which brought in $46,000; Lot #9391.4, a large late-model Porsche neon tin sign for $42,550 and Lot #9351.1, a circa 1940s-early ’50s Buick Service porcelain sign, which went to a new home for $40,250.
