2024 SCOTTSDALE AUCTION: 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Custom Coupe – No Reserve

This custom 1968 Chevrolet Camaro is powered by a fuel-injected GM Ram Jet 502ci V8 engine paired with a TREMEC 5-speed manual transmission. Starting with a bare shell, it was completely rebuilt from the ground up and features a custom tube chassis, fabricated hood, RideTech suspension, 4-bolt mains, aluminum heads, forged rotating assembly, electronic ignition and a full roller valvetrain. The massive, big-block fan with custom aluminum intake, fabricated intake ducting and an aluminum radiator keeps the towering engine cool and provides 565 ft/lbs of torque.

It features a full perimeter frame comprised of custom rectangular tubing that vastly reinforces the tub. The front suspension is a custom set of A-arms with rack & pinion steering, along with sway bars and air suspension. There’s a torque arm and trailing links on a custom-fabricated Ford 9-inch rear end and Baer vented and cross-drilled rotors at each corner. The custom 3-inch exhaust system tucks up underneath the car with custom oval-shaped outlets.

The black exterior features hockey-stick ghost stripes on the nose and has a factory ducktail spoiler and a Z/28-style front chin spoiler, as well as RS headlights with a billet grille and electric actuators. The interior features leather-wrapped bucket seats and the rear bench seat was upholstered to match. The instrument panel is factory-issue but features Dakota Digital instruments, a fabricated center console that holds the controls for the Vintage Air system, a touchscreen entertainment/navigation system, and the trick RideTech air suspension system.

Real carbon fiber is used in the center stack and on the console, and the interior includes a tilt steering column with a custom billet wheel, power windows, custom pedals and a big custom knob on top of the TREMEC 5-speed manual gearbox. The door panels were subtly resculpted to give it a slightly custom look that’s really cohesive.

The trunk is fully finished with an enclosure for the entertainment system and amplifiers. Dual Optima batteries provide the power, with a cutoff switch neatly hidden behind the license plate. The car rides on custom Rushforth wheels, 19x10s in the front and 20×12 in the rear. With only 700 miles on the build, this Pro-Touring Camaro was custom-built for NHL All-Star Rick Nash by Boot Hill Customs in Canada. The sale includes receipts totaling over $330,000 and build photos.
