2024 SCOTTSDALE AUCTION: 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 CSX 3096 – No Reserve

This 1965 Shelby Cobra CSX 3096 is a continuation Cobra built within the original specifications. The hand-rolled aluminum body is painted Guardsman Blue with Wimbledon White stripes. It sits on a 4-inch-diameter steel tube frame with independent suspension, alloy knock-off-style wheels and Goodyear racing tires. The 468ci V8 stroker engine was built by the Carroll Shelby engine company with a cast-iron side-oiler 427FE block and Shelby medium-riser aluminum heads.

This Cobra features a black leather-seat interior with the original-style forward-swept shifter on an iron Toploader 4-speed manual transmission. The dual mini batteries are located behind the passenger seat, with dual fuel pumps mounted in the trunk on the passenger side. This Cobra has a 15-inch wood steering wheel with the original-style horn button, mirrors, Lucas headlights and Smith mechanical gauges.

Powered by a 468ci stroker engine derived from a 427FE block with Shelby aluminum heads bolted to a 4-speed manual transmission. Has an aluminum body painted Guardsman Blue with a Wimbledon White stripe, sitting on a 4-inch tube frame with Girling brakes.
